Located in the city of Agra,
Taj Mahal is one of the greatest
monuments of India. Located
on the banks of the river
Yamuna, the Taj Mahal is one
of the largest buildings on
the earth's surface and one
of the Seven Wonders of the
World. The beauty this marble
monument has made it the most
popular tourist destination
in India. Built by Mughal
Emperor Shah Jahan in the
mid-17th century Taj Mahal
is a magnificent specimen
of the combination of Mughal
architecture with Persian,
Italian and typical Muslim
architecture. Covering a vast
area, the magnificent Taj
Mahal has been attracting
millions of international
tourists for ages. Then, the
architecture of the main building,
bridge, mosque, home, the
graves in the main building
introduce people to a sense
of art and architecture between
the Mughals and their different
social traditions. But apart
from that, the huge garden,
which is called the Taj Garden,
is also a major attraction
of Taj Mahal.
The Taj Garden area is huge
and has a large variety of
trees and plants. Taj Garden
is around 300 square meters
and charbagh is a typical
example of Mughal garden.
Raised avenues have divided
the field of Taj Garden in
four quarters of the same
size and each quarter consists
of four or parterres of flowers.
Right at the centre of Taj
Garden which is just halfway
between the tomb and the main
door, there is a marble water
tank called Al Hawd al-Kawthar,
and a swimming pool on North-South,
where a wonderful reflection
of Taj Mahal is seen.
Apart from that you also get
to see several tracks with
fountains and trees. The design
of the Taj Garden is deeply
inspired by Persian gardens,
which was first introduced
in India by Babur, the first
Mogul emperor to invade the
country.
