Taj Mahal History
Much has been said about the beauty of Taj Mahal and it is interesting to know about the history of Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal when she passed away. Shah Jahan wanted it be a unique structure and hence it took about twenty years to build it in the 17th century. About 20,000 artisans and craftsmen were involved in building the Taj which is also said to be inspired from Humayun’s tomb.
The beauty of the Taj Mahal rests on the architectural and engineering ingenuity of its makers. The Taj Mahal largely follows the Persian on the Iranian architecture and the main architect is supposed to be Ustad Ahmad Lahori, of Persian descent. The dome of the Taj Mahal is a combination of white marble with a lot of precious stones inlaid. Hence, with every hour of the day, you could find a difference in the color of the Taj. The Taj Mahal mainly consists of the Taj , with the four minarets and the lawns. Taj Mahal is located in the banks of the Yamuna River. There are intricate drawings and Jali work on the Taj which is of great attraction to tourists.
